If I had to choose one favorite location for senior portraits in Augusta, Maine, the Viles Arboretum would be at the top of my list. With winding trails, towering trees, colorful gardens, open fields, and beautiful golden light, it's an incredible setting for senior photos throughout the year.

Morgan and I had such a fun evening exploring the arboretum during her senior portrait session. Although it happened to be one of the hottest days of the summer, she handled the heat and humidity like a pro—you would never know from the photos! We spent the evening wandering the trails, enjoying the late-summer flowers, lush greenery, and all of the natural beauty that makes the Viles Arboretum one of my favorite photography locations in central Maine.

One of the things I love most about Viles Arboretum senior portraits is the incredible variety of scenery. In a single session, we can photograph among gardens bursting with seasonal blooms, quiet wooded paths, open lawns, and beautiful tree-lined walkways. As the sun began to set, the golden hour light filtered through the trees, creating the soft, warm glow every photographer hopes for.

The Viles Arboretum has become an even more exciting destination in recent years, now serving as a wedding venue in addition to being one of Augusta's most beautiful public spaces. Whether you're celebrating your senior year, planning an engagement session, or getting married, it's easy to see why so many people are drawn to this special place.
